Geraldine (Gerri) Fowler, Spiritual Formation Pastor

Gerri FowlerGerri grew up living in several states with her mother and pastor father and 4 sisters. The most memorable experience was to live 4 years on the Flathead Indian Reservation in St. Ignatius Montana. Gerri met her husband, Art, when she attended the New York State University at Potsdam, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a specialty in early childhood education. After a career of teaching, with her most recent position in the Follow Through program in the Trenton school system, and serving as a model teacher on a behavior modification video for national circulation, Gerri answered the call to pastoral ministry. She graduated in 1998 with a Master of Divinity degree from Drew Theological School in Madison, NJ. She was ordained an Elder in the Greater NJ Conference in 1990, serving a student pastorate in Fieldsboro, and as lead pastor in Farmingdale, Pennsauken, and Old Bridge, taking early retirement in 2001. She was certified in Spiritual Direction and Group Retreats through the Tree of Life Institute in the GNJ conference, and the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Bethesda, MD. Eventually Gerri founded and became executive director of the Balm in Gilead Ministries, Inc., a non-profit spiritual formation and retreat ministry in which spiritual direction, retreats, and workshops were offered for local churches and on a District and Conference level and beyond. Gerri and her husband renovated a 150 year old farmhouse outside of Allentown in order to accommodate ministry at their home location. Since retirement, Gerri has served in 7 interim ministries. Widowed in 2014, Gerri is the mother of 3, grandmother of 5, and great grandmother of 3
