Yang-Hee Song, Organist

Yang-Hee Song has been the organist and accompanist at Chatham UMC for the past 17 years. Ms. Song led congregational singing during worship services and accompanied the Chatham UMC Covenant Choir, Youth Singers, and soloists. She is a graduate of Kei Myoung University in Daegu City, South Korea, and received a Master’s Degree from the Juilliard School in New York City. Her organ and piano teachers included Seung Paul Lee, Lionel Party, and Dr. John Weaver.

As an organ recitalist, Ms. Song has performed at St. Paul’s Chapel Columbia University, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, Rutgers Presbyterian Church in New York City, Morristown Presbyterian Church, and in Daegu, South Korea. She has also performed in recitals held at the Chatham United Methodist Church including in 2009 performing the rededication concert for the church’s refurbished and digitized Schantz pipe organ; in May of 2016, performing an organ recital accompanied by the Masterwork Camerata, Trent Johnson, organ, and CUMC’s Covenant Choir and Youth Singers; and in 2017, performing a recital for the Metro NJ Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. On May 8th, 2017, at the Chatham United Methodist Church, Yang-Hee Song performed an organ recital as part of the American Guild of Organists’ series: Metro Mid-day Munch in May.

Although she takes immense enjoyment in accompanying singers and instrumentalists, Yang-Hee is most fond of accompanying the human voice. She has accompanied choruses throughout America and abroad including the Daegu City Chorus and the Oratorio Singers of Westfield, New Jersey. She has appeared several times on tour with noted soprano Cho Lee throughout Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, New Jersey and New York City.

Ms. Song is a piano teacher and member of MEA in New Jersey and takes pride in sharing the joy of music with her students.

We are indeed blessed to have Yang-Hee Song join our music staff at PUMC! Please take the opportunity to get to know her and warmly welcome her to our PUMC family.
