For over 25 years, HomeFront has worked to help families break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness in Mercer County. Over the years PUMC has had the privilege to help support HomeFront’s efforts in various ways.

It all began in 1990 when Connie Mercer, Founder and CEO, along with other volunteers organized around her kitchen table to deliver food to homeless families in Route #1 motels. After 25 years of hard work and planning, HomeFront’s Family Preservation Center, a one-stop social service campus with accommodations for 38 families, became a reality. In addition to the residential suites, the Center has a childcare center, ArtSpace, a library, a music room, a computer room for computer training, a teaching kitchen, a dining room and more.
