Children’s Church Program

The stained glass window in the Sanford Davis Room shows Jesus and the little children.

“Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there. — Matthew 19:13-15

The Children’s Church program is designed for children age 4 through 4th grade and is in addition to the nursery and pre-school programs that we already offer at the 11 o’clock hour. NOTE: This worship service is held from September through June.  During the Summer we have the Summer Sunday program for children.

All children ages 4 through 4th grade will still be a part of the 11 o’clock worship service through the Children’s Sermon. Following the Children’s Sermon, they will then have the option of going to Children’s Church in Room 202 or staying with their parents through the remainder of the worship service. The Children’s Church program will be an opportunity for our children to experience the traditions and rituals of worship by participating in hymn singing, a message, activities and an offering time that is appropriate for this age group. The message and activities will be linked to that morning’s Children’s Sermon and liturgy so that Children’s Church and the regular worship service are connected.

Older Children are encouraged to attend the entire worship service with their families. Worship bags containing children’s bulletins, crayons, etc. are available for use during the sermon time. Please encourage your older children to pick up a bag on their way into the sanctuary.

PUMC has a rich and vibrant education program for our children. We look forward to expanding this program through a Children’s church.

Volunteers are needed to help with this program. To learn more about helping out, please contact education@princetonumc.org.
